World Baking Day - May

There are so many reasons to celebrate World Baking Day this year.  Not only does it offer a form of self-care, stress relief and sustenance during a global pandemic, it is also a language of love – baking for family, friends, neighbours and essential workers as a show of appreciation and gratitude.

World Baking Day is an initiative to spread the joy of baking all around the world, especially to those who perhaps don’t bake very often and are not particularly experienced at it.  This day is meant to show people just how much fun it can be to bake some bread, make a cake or whip up some cookies. Baking can have an emotional, mood enhancing impact similar to the effects offered by meditation or breathing exercises.  If the sense of accomplishment and the delicious aromas wafting through your kitchen aren’t hypnotic enough, consider how much fun it is to eat what you’ve made once it’s done!

So whether you’d like to try your hand at crusty baked bread, cute cupcakes, decadent tortes, comforting cookies, spectacular cakes, glazed donuts or mesmerising sourdough… Latorta is well stocked with all the ingredients, equipment and advice to get you baking.

The beauty of pantry staples is that they last a long time – they can be squirrelled away and bring comfort and a sense of indulgence that we all need right now.  Latorta has flour, yeast and bread mixes, chocolate, donut mixes and icings, ingredients for cakes, macarons, fruit powders, sprinkles and more to bring your baking inspiration into edible works of art.

Set yourself up with the right equipment also from Latorta.  Rolling pins, baking pans, bread proofing baskets, cookie cutters, spatulas, muffin trays, chocolate moulds, thermometers, piping bags and tips are just some of tools available to invest in.

So this World Baking Day, dig out that mixing bowl and prepare something delicious! Surprise a friend, co-worker, neighbour or relative with a delicious sweet or savoury treat to let them know how much you care.  Or if you are an isolated home baker, just make something to enjoy in your own home and consider it a gift to yourself.  Indulge in some ‘procrastibaking’ and embrace dessert or bread baking for the sake of your mental and physical health.  Open the oven door and allow that serotonin to release its feel-good hormones through to your inner being.

However you decide to celebrate this day, make it deliciously unforgettable with Latorta!
