This product is a game changer for those who do not wish to use alcohol in their baking, whether it be for religous reasons or keeping their baking child-friendly.   Vegan cake decorators can also rejoice as it only uses vegan friendly ingredients.
Sweet Sticks Alcohol Free Activator is a revolutionary solution to turn Petal Dusts and Lustre Dusts and other food colouring powder into a liquid, edible paint.

It paints on most sugar mediums and dries completely rub free leaving your finished product perfect for your customer. Pack your cookies and cakesicles with complete ease knowing that your product won’t get smudged.
Works on compound chocolate, cookie dough, confectionary.
Use the 'small surface painting' method on Fondant, Gumpaste, Modelling Choclate, 
Use the 'paint & dust' method on American Buttercream, Royal icing, Chocolate, 
(not appropriate for Ganache or Swiss Meringue Buttercream)

HOW TO USE:
Small Surface area painting - Alcohol Free Activator + Lustre/Petal Dust
  • Place the amount of lustre you need into your palette and add alcohol free activator. Mix until it forms a paint like consistency.
  • This method is great for small surfaces such as raised fondant cookies and finer details. It works well on chilled Swiss Meringue Buttercream but does not work on chocolate.
Large Surface area painting - - Alcohol Free Activator + Lustre/Petal Dust
  • You will need 2 brushes for this technique. One gets wet and the other must be dry.
  • Dip your (wet) brush into the activator and apply a thin clear layer onto the surface. Less is best. The less back and forth with the activator the better!
  • Using a Lustre Brush, apply lustre onto the wet area.
  • Once covered, use a 2nd dry Lustre Brush and brush away any leftover powder. 
  • For painting a fondant cake, we recommend using the Wide Flat #5 Brush to apply the Activator in small sections with an upward stroke.   

Stencilling with our Alcohol Free Activator:
  • Dip your brush into the activator and apply a thin layer onto the surface. Less is best. The less back and forth with the activator the better! Using a lustre brush apply lustre onto the wet area.
  • Securely hold the stencil on the surface as you brush the Alcohol Free Activator over the top. The stencil will become sticky and it will stay in place.
  • Take your dry brush and dab your lustre over the stencil and brush away any loose dust. - When you are finished, slowly remove the stencil and admire your work of art !
  • This method works on Ganache, Fondant and Buttercream. It will not work on Swiss Meringue Buttercream because of the oily surface.
