Bakels Instant Active Dried Yeast is ideal for your bread, pizza and sweet dough recipes.
The 500g bulk packet is enough for approx 70 loaves of bread.
Directions for use:
Add the yeast to the dry ingredients and mix. Then add the warm liquid and mix.
Instant Active Dry Yeast works more quickly than active dry yeast, does not require refrigeration prior to opening, has a long shelf life and should be added directly to the dry ingredients / dough without reconstituting (adding water) first.
Storing Unused Yeast:
After opening, the yeast should be refrigerated in an airtight container and used within a few days. Alternatively, store your unused yeast in the freezer. Stored in the freezer, our dry yeast will keep for months (even past that best before date.)
Far from hurting the little yeast cells, freezing puts them in a state of suspension. Keep them in an airtight container (ie tupperware or glass jar) where they are protected from oxygen and humidity. You can use the yeast straight from the freezer. Sprinkling it into room temperature liquid wakes them right back up again.
Testing Yeast Is Still Alive:
Stored yeast can be tested to see if it is still alive. Put a small spoonful of yeast into a glass or bowl, add a little warm water and a pinch of sugar. If it starts bubbling after a few minutes, then it's good to go.
